ECONNECT / 2008-2011

The ECONNECT project strives towards an ecological continuum across the Alps.

The main objective of ECONNECT is to protect biodiversity by creating an Alpine ecological network. The project involves international umbrella organizations closely linked to the Alpine Convention, scientific institutions and local implementation partners (protected areas, local administrations). All these entities have joined forces to demonstrate the need for connectivity across the Alps and exploring the best options for coordinated action and the development of  innovative tools for ecological connectivity.

ALPARC is one of the 16 partners of this model project and lead partner of Work Package 7 dealing with implementation in pilot areas. Various protected areas of ALPARC are also actively involved in this project.
