Analysis and evaluation of the Alpine Ecological Network

Analysis and evaluation of the Alpine Ecological Network

Background

The Alpine region is increasingly under pressure from infrastructure development and land use fragmentation. Ecological connectivity is being compromised. The project addresses the urgent need to preserve and enhance ecological connectivity both within the Alps and between the Alpine Convention area and surrounding regions under the European Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP). Through mapping analyses, spatial planning tools, and cross borders analyses, the project aims to analyze and assess the current state of ecological connectivity in the Alps, as well as propose measures to strengthen the ecological network, supporting the COP15 30by30 goal.
